Gamma-interferon is a cytokine that plays a crucial role in the immune system by activating immune cells and promoting antiviral and antibacterial responses. This protein is also known as interferon-gamma, IFN-γ or type II interferon. Other synonyms for gamma-interferon include immune interferon, T-cell interferon, and macrophage-activating factor.
