Onagraceae (evening primrose) is a family of flowering plants that have a number of synonyms. These include the scientific name Onagra, as well as other common names such as willowherb, enchanter's nightshade, and fireweed. The evening primrose family is diverse and includes around 650 species, many of which have medicinal properties. Some of the more common species include evening primrose, which is used to treat skin conditions and PMS, and willowherb, which is used to treat urinary tract infections and enlarged prostate. Despite the various synonyms, Onagraceae remains an important family of plants that have significant uses both medicinally and ornamentally.
