Pit-house, also known as earth house, is a type of dwelling that was first introduced during the Neolithic period. This type of home was built by digging a pit into the ground and then covering it with a roof made of thatch or sod. While pit-house is the most common term used to describe this type of dwelling, there are other synonyms that can be used. Some of these include sunken house, floor house, earth lodge, underground house, and dugout. Despite the different names, all of these different terms refer to the same type of unique and ancient dwelling that was used by our ancestors for centuries.
