Sodium lights, also known as high-pressure sodium (HPS) lights, have been widely used for street lighting, outdoor security lighting, and commercial lighting applications. Other words that can be used to describe the sodium light technology include amber light, yellow light, and monochromatic light. Amber light refers to the warm, golden hue emitted by the high-pressure sodium vapor when it is electrically charged. Yellow light denotes the visual effect created by the high-pressure sodium light's distinctive color temperature, which is close to the color of an incandescent bulb. Monochromatic light relates to the property of the sodium light technology emitting only a single color of light, as compared to white light sources that emit a broad spectrum of colors.
